The school celebrated "Maths Weeks" from the 15/10/12 - 26/10/12. The theme this year was "Maths is all around us". The children acted like detectives looking for examples of maths in the environment. They found numbers in the yard markings and on registration plates. They found various shaped shores and windows. They found patterns on the walls and pavins. The children counted leaves and nuts and much much more. We also combined the theme of Halloween with "Maths Weeks". Children counted ghosts and witches. We looked for symmetry in witches hats, pumpkins etc. We made repeating Halloween patterns. We also had a competition for the best illustration/photos of maths in our environment. Lot's of fun was had by all. Can your child find examples of maths at home? Winners of the "Maths is all around us" competition.
