Chinese New Year started on the 8th. February this year. It is the year of the Monkey. Celebrations last for 15 days ending with the magical Lantern Festival. It is also Vietnamese New Year (Tet).
Here at St. Cronan’s the children have been busy celebrating the New Year. They made lanterns, Chinese hats, tangrams, monkey masks and even tried some Chinese calligraphy. Some children were lucky enough to receive little red envelopes with chocolate money inside! We talked about Chinese New Year traditions and customs. Great fun was had by all! |
