Our theme this month was "Nursery Rhymes, Fairytales and Castles". We read lots of traditional tales - Rapunzel, Rumplestiltskin, The Princess and the pea, Sleeping Beauty,The Goose Girl etc. We did lots of discussion around castles, knights and dragons. Our role-play area was a castle and we had fairytales in the small-world area. In the creative area we had fairytale playdough mats and painting. Lots of elaborate castles were built in the construction area. Many of the children did independent writing during playtime which was great to see - making signs and maps and writing letters and stories.
