It's Maths week this week and we have been having lots of fun exploring maths in our environment. Today we made patterns of 2 colours and the other day we went on a maths trail - we had to find 9 different things including making a trianglr from twigs, 4 cones, 2 trees and lots of shapes. We have also been playing lots of new counting games with Ms Smyth and Ms Hourican.

We had a surprise visit yesterday. Garda Noel and Garda Tom came to visit us. They told us all about the job they do and they showed us their uniform and their radios and batons. The reminded us to be safe on Halloween night and stay with an adult at all times. They told us to say hi if we see them out and about near Swords Manor. They let us try on the uniform and hold the radio and handcuffs. It was very exciting! Each week Ms Hourican comes to our classroom to help us do our work. For the last 3 weeks we have been doing station teaching and playing Maths Games.
We have been doing lots of work on sorting this week. Every day we all get a sorting bag to work with. On Friday we used sorting trees to make sets. We learned that a set is a group of things that belong together.
We have new Aistear Areas to go with our themes of Autumn and Halloween. We have a Halloween corner, Letterland, an Autumn Treasure Hunt, Autumn art and stickle. |
