In maths we are learning to sort and to make sets. A set is a group of things that belong together - by colour or size or type.
Soon we will start to use our sorting bags and sorting trees to become expert sorters

We have learned 5 new letters so far in Junior Infants. Everyday we visit Letterland to meet our friends and practice the sounds they make at the start of words. Here are some pictures of us doing our writing activities which help us to form our letters and of our visit to the computer room.
Some photographs of some of us enjoying yard time and our music lesson on Friday where we all got to play some musical instruments along to our favourite nursery rhymes. In our classroom we do most of our learning through the medium of play and play based activities. In the morning we have teacher designed table top activities to help with our numeracy and literacy skills. During the day we implement the hour of play as recommeded by the Aistear (early childhood framework) curriculum. Play is our work and is very important in helping us become confident and competent learners. This month our themes are Myself and Colour and our play areas are based around these. Here are some pictures of us exploring our new play areas. After a very busy week in Junior Infants we relaxed with some playdough (márla) this afternnon. We tried to make a face on our mats. It was hard but we had lots of fun. We have been coming to school for a week now and Mrs O'Mahoney is very proud of how we have settled in. We have been very busy getting to know eachother and learning all about school. Here are some pictures of us on our first few days. |
