We have been learning all about the Russian artist Vassily Kandinsky. He loved painting bold and colourful paintings with lots of bright and vivid shapes and colours. We looked at his painting 'Squares with Concentric Circles' and loved the different shades of blue, red and yellow that he mixed.
First we experimented with colour wheels making secondary colours from the three primary colours blue, red and yellow. Then we decided to use different types of brightly coloured fabric and fibre to each make a little square of concentric circles. We then put them all together to make a big version of Kandinskys famous painting. Kandinsky loved brigh colours and believed that colours could express feelings in the same way as music Do you think our art work is full of musical expression?
