We were delighted to invite some of our grandparents in last Tuesday afternoon for Grandparents day:) We sang them some songs and poems that we have been learning in school. We sang an old song that some of the grandparents had learnt in school when they were young- 'Beidh Aonach Amarch'. They all helped us sing it!
We had lots of questions to ask them about school when they were young. Liams grandmother told us all about going to school in a horse and cart. She also told us about cutting turf from the bog for the fire. Some of us had never even heard of turf before:) We also learned about Michael's grandmother's experiences in the missionaries school in Nigeria. She told us about grinding pepper for the dinner and cooking all the meals for the children and teachers in the boarding school. We also showed the grandparents our Interactive Whiteboard and our class blog. They had never seen anything like it before. School was very different when our grandparents were young. We loved showing them around and letting them see what our school is like now.
