We have been working very hard in room 11 this year on our letters and sounds. We have been having great fun using the new St Cronan's Phonics programme.
We sing songs, plays lots of games, learn lots of new words, sounds and spellings and always try our best with our writing. Each week we learn a new sound. This week we learned all about the 'oa' as snow sound. Can you name some 'oa' words in the comments section? Click on the links below to find out more! We have been learning all about Healthy Eating this week in room 11. We looked at the Food Pyramid and found out all about the foods that we should be eating every day such as vegetables and the foods that we should try to only eat a little of each week such as sweets.
We looked at all of the foods that are good for us and we asked Lola what would she like to eat? Can you name some of the good and not so good foods on our Food Pyramid? We were learning all about light and dark this week in Science. We learned all about sources of light in the classroom and at home.
Can you name some sources of light in your house? We also learned all about shadows and how we can make them using sunlight on the yard or by using a projector in the classroom. We made silhouettes of our head and shoulders using the projector, chalk and black sugar paper. We cut them out and stuck them onto coloured card. Can you find your silhouette? We were so excited in room 11 this week to start learning all about tens and units.
We used cubes and lollipop sticks to make numbers on notation boards. Notation boards have a T for tens on the left and U for units on the right. We learned that units are the numbers from 0-9 and tens are numbers bigger than 10. For example the number 23 has 2 tens and 3 units. Can you guess what numbers are on my red and orange notation boards? write your answer in the comments section. |
