This week in 2a we are celebrating Chinese New Year, Chinese New Year 2016 will be a year of the Monkey. It is tradition for parents, friends and family to give money to children in red envelopes or red packets, Sophie kindly brought in an envelope for everyone in the class which contained beautiful chocolate coins! Tangram is an ancient Chinese puzzle. This activity is sometimes called “seven pieces of cleverness.” The object of the puzzle is to rearrange the pieces of a square (the puzzle pieces) to form figures (like a picture of a cat) using the tangram pieces. We made our own tangram pictures and practiced writing Chinese letters.
