Now we are wondering about...

We have been really busy learning about the underwater world! We have answered most of our initial questions...and now we have come up with some really interesting new questions.  We are wondering..
  • Why whale sharks are called whale sharks? Are they a shark or a whale? One boy in our class suggested that they are just confused!
  • Why do crabs walk sideways?
  • How do jellyfish see?  We noticed that in our story books the jellyfish pictures have eyes, but when we looked at photos of them we couldn't find any eyes!
  • Why do manta rays have a barb if they don't want to hurt anyone?
  • Does the hole in a whale's head give him a headache?
  • What happens if we don't keep the sea clean?

Ms Emerson is so impressed with our questions. We have come up with some ways of finding the answers so we will continue our investigation! If you come across any pictures or stories which might help us please feel free to share them with us.  Have a lovely weekend!

Ms Emerson
I had a lovely time visiting your class and would be delighted to do so again. Next time I might even manage to bring a real tank and your class can take turns breathing. This week I am over in the Medes Islands where I am helping count the baby octopus! Maybe you can show your class where they are on the map.

Thanks again to all your class for making me so welcome,

Hi Conor! It's great that you are still wondering about "under the sea!". That is a great question! Have a look at this website:
http://kinooze.com/lions-mane-jellyfish/
It might help you find your answer! I don't think I would like to go for a swim with one of them! I wonder are they very dangerous or do they just look scary?

My favourite part of "under the sea" was meeting Derek because he showed us lots of cool things and I got to wear his mask. Thank you Derek. From Harry.

I really like you as my teacher, ms Emerson. I think some fish are bad and some are good. I really enjoy the lessons. My favourite was when your dad visited.

I'm so happy you are enjoying our topic Paul! I'm looking forward to hearing more about what is good about some fish and what is bad about others! :-)
