Today five firefighters came to visit Junior Infants! They showed us their special equipment including their helmets, jackets, trousers, boots and walkie-talkies. Some children were allowed to try on their uniforms. The firefighters talked to us about fire safety and we practised the Stop, Drop and Roll technique. They reminded everyone that the most important thing to do if there is a fire in your house is to GET OUT and then ring 999 or 112. Three lucky children were even picked to go and look at the fire engine before the firefighters had to rush off back to work.

This week we learned all about how to cross the road safely. Everybody got a high visibility vest and we went on a walk to find a zebra crossing, traffic lights and to see where the lollipop lady stands. Here is a link to the Safe Cross Code song on youtube.
Every Friday we get a tray of fresh fruit to eat. This week we had apples, grapes, satsumas, kiwis, nectarines and strawberries. The strawberries were our favourite! We have been revising all of our reader words this week. We played Match the Pairs, Go Fish and Switch with the pictures and words. On Friday afternoon we have Golden Time. Golden Time is a special half hour when we are allowed to play with anything we want in the room. This is what we got up to this week. Here is a video of us singing The Dingle Dangle Scarecrow. Miss Dempsey forgot to focus the camera so it's a bit blurry but hopefully you'll enjoy it anyway!
