On Friday two very funny Gardaí came to visit our class. They let everybody try on their hats and hold their handcuffs. They told us lots of jokes and made everyone laugh. They even handcuffed Suzanne and Miss Dempsey!

Miss Holmes made a magic witch potion that bubbled in a bucket. Everybody had to think of disgusting things to throw in to the bucket....... The potion bubbled and then Miss Dempsey turned into a witch! Luckily our two ninjas scared her off and the witch turned back into Miss Dempsey.
On Friday we all dressed up for Hallowe'en! Well done to everybody for putting so much effort into their costumes! You all looked great! We played lots of games like 'Bobbing for Apples', 'Mountain of Flour', 'Musical Statues' and 'Musical Bumps'. We watched a Hallowe'en cartoon called 'Meg and Mog' while eating chocolate apples and we did our favourite Hallowe'en dance, the Skeleton Dance. Here is a link to the Skeleton Dance on Youtube.
Autumn hedgehogs made from clay and match sticks. Autumn tree paintings and Hallowe'en crayon and paint bats. We made a scary witch using a mask, a hat and a dress. We stuffed them with cushions to make them look like a real witch. We move our pretend witch around the room to try to scare all the teachers! Here is our pretend witch reading 'Winnie the Witch'. We have been learning Hallowe'en words in Irish this week. We know cailleach (witch), púca (ghost), sciathán (bat), puimcín (pumpkin), báirín breac (barn brack cake), úlla (apples), oráistí (oranges), cnónna (nuts), milseáin (sweets).
This week was Maths Week in our school. We went on a maths trail aaround the school grounds. We had to find 9 different examples of maths in our environment. In this picture we had just found a circle in the yard. We found circles, squares, cones, triangles and lots more in the school garden and the school yard.
Today everyone wore something blue to school. We are hoping to get our third Green Flag for our school next week. This flag is all about conserving water. We had great fun balancing beanbags out in the sun today. We balanced them on our heads, hands, shoulders and backs.
Miss Dempsey's new puppy, Rosie, came to visit our class on Thursday. Rosie is 11 weeks old. Rosie loves to play with children. Everyone got a chance to pet her!
This week we started learning about autumn. We went on a nature walk to look for some autumn leaves and fruit. We found loads of brown leaves! We didn't find any acorns or conkers. Maybe the squirrels have them hidden already for the long winter! We were very lucky to see some blackberries behind the prefabs. We put everything on our nature table with our two hedgehogs. This is our colourful autumn board. We cut out the leaves ourselves.
