In junior infants we do lots of active learning. For literacy we do stations. This means we spend 5 minutes doing 5 different activities. The activities change during the year. At the moment we are doing: 1. Letter pegs: Looking for initial letter sound 2. Sight words matching 3. Letter formation: in our copy 4. Letter matching: Matching letters to pictures 5. Magnetic letters

Look how talented we are in room 1!We have been working really hard producing some lovely artwork. Enjoy this slideshow of some of our work. Don't get scared by the Halloween art! Some of the children said they would like to see some pictures of their classroom on the blog. Here are a few to start with. In November the children will take control of the camera and take some pictures for the blog.
The boys and girls of Room 1 had a very exciting morning. First we got a lovely tray of fruit for fruit Friday. At 10 AM we went to the hall. It was very bust there as all the children in the school were there. The people from Fingallians brought 3 cups for us to see: The league cup, The Leinster cup and the Sam Maguire. We gave them 3 cheers and sang Molly Malone.
Hello and welcome to the blog for Room 1 in St. Cronan's JNS. There are 16 boys, 13 girls and 1 teacher in our classroom. We started school in September and we have been very busy settling in to our lovely school. Here is a tour of our school..... Look what we did in Aistear today. All our activities were based on the book Room on the Broom. |
